St Paul’s Cathedral, London

Memorial Service at St Paul’s Cathedral
The memorial service to remember the life and commemorate the death of the First Earl Kitchener will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, on Sunday 4 June 2017, at 3.15pm.

The Memorial Service is held annually to the closest Sunday after the anniversary of the death (5 June 1916) of the First Earl Kitchener who was tragically lost at sea when the warship he was aboard was sunk by a German mine.

Since 2011, the service has been incorporated into General Evensong. Kitchener Scholars do however receive priority seating in the Quire. After General Evensong, there is a wreath laying ceremony in the All Souls’ Chapel where Kitchener’s magnificent memorial is located. Following the ceremony, there will be afternoon tea in the Crypt café, hosted by The Lady Emma Kitchener-Fellowes LVO.

If you have not experienced it already, I can thoroughly recommend the unique experience of standing close to the beautiful singing of the Choir of the Cathedral – a truly moving experience.
