Remembrance Sunday 2024

We had one of the largest turnouts that I can remember since re-engaging with the KSA in 2000 (I received my Scholarship in 1986). Can we exceed the 87 who gathered last year? If you have never been, you really should come at least once to experience the sound of a field gun from 150m (deafening), to pay respects to the 137 Kitchener Scholars who lost their lives in WWII, and to enjoy the convivial company of other Kitchener Scholars at lunch afterwards in the Great India Restaurant in Lower Sloane Street, generously hosted by Lady Emma Kitchener.
Please let our Secretary, Neal Clifton, know by 14th October if you would like to attend the service by emailing secretary@kitchenerscholars.org.
Guests (including children) are most welcome at the service on Horse Guards Parade and we have no limit on numbers. Also, let Neal know if you would like to join for lunch and if you would like to bring one guest. We do have to impose this limit as the restaurant is not large and even then we might not be able to accommodate all guest requests. Neal will confirm if your request for a guest at the lunch is successful.
Security protocols have been increased significantly this year and there is a new system of registration in place. We are required to submit names (given / forenames and surnames) of those attending in advance. Passes will then be issued by the authorities, to be collected from KSA representatives on the day by 10.15am at the Guards Memorial on the St James’s Park publicly-accessible side of Horse Guards Road, opposite the centre of Horse Guards Parade itself.
Adults will also need to bring additional photo ID (passport or driving licence) so please ensure that spellings of names precisely match the information given on the ID.
We need to submit our list of names to the authorities by 14th October. Do contact Neal with any queries at secretary@kitchenerscholars.org. We hope to see many of you there!
